WINDOW GLASS LUG INSTALLATION

How to Install Lugs (Glass Clamps) on Your Window Glass?

Installing glass lugs is essential to ensure your window functions properly and securely. Follow the guide below for a safe and reliable installation.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Prepare the Glass Panel
Carefully remove the glass from the door and place it on a clean, flat surface. Detach the damaged or old lug (glass clamp), including any adhesive residue or broken pieces.

2. Clean and Roughen the Surface
Use sandpaper to roughen the area where the old lug was attached. This helps the new adhesive bond better. Once sanded, clean off all dust and debris using a clean, dry cloth.

3. Attach the New Lug
Apply a strong automotive-grade adhesive like Merbenit Urethane or T-Rex Turbo Adhesive to the new lug. Press the lug firmly onto the prepared spot on the glass, aligning it where the old one was located. Hold or clamp in place as needed.

4. Reinstall and Let It Cure
Once the lug is secure, reinstall the glass into the door frame. Wind the window up completely and leave it in place to allow the adhesive to cure for at least 12 hours before using the window.

5. Lubricate the Bailey Channel
Before using the window, apply silicone spray or graphite powder to the Bailey channel to ensure smooth window operation and reduce wear.

Tips for Best Results
• Work in a clean, dry, and dust-free environment.
• Do not rush the adhesive cure time, this ensures a secure long-term bond.
• Always wear gloves and safety glasses when handling glass or adhesives.
