Learn How To Remove Tree Sap Off Your Windscreen!

Car owners usually look for a shade when parking their vehicles during daytime to avoid direct exposure from the sun. If there are no sheds available, most of us turn to big trees for protection. However, there are some trees that excrete sap and will heavily affect your car’s surface, especially its windscreen. If you see drops of sap on your car, do not panic. Do not even attempt to wipe it off quickly as it has a tendency to just spread out, leaving the windscreen blurry. Try this homemade solution the next time your car falls victim to tree saps.

Of course, you can use any cleaning product available in the market and wipe it on the affected area using a clean, dry rag. As alternatives, thinning products such as a nail polish remover and rubbing alcohol can be used. You can store these thinning solutions in your car to be prepared to clean up your sap-induced windscreen in a jiffy. Other alternatives include oil-based products like mineral or bath oil, lard, and even bacon grease. The abovementioned liquids can soften the sticky sap, making it easier to be wiped off clean.

Pour the cleaning solution of your choice into the clean rag, and wipe the sap off in a circular motion. Make the circular motion small so the sap will not spread out in a larger area of your windscreen. The sap may not come off easily depending on its amount or the amount of cleaning solution that you put. If this happens, just repeat the first step until necessary.

Once you’ve removed the sap from the windscreen, wash it all off with warm water mixed with dish soap. This is to wash off any residue the sap and the cleaning solution may have left on the car windscreen exterior. Once dry, coat your windscreen with your choice of window cleaner and polish it using a lint-free cloth for a shinier and cleaner finish.
